As a dietitian, I’ve been told weight loss is what we have to do to help people.
Throne. Of. Lies.
Diet culture says dieting works❌
Actually over ⅔ of dieters end up gaining MORE weight back than they originally lost AND diets are the principle indicator of weight gain.
Diet culture also tells us that for better health, dieting is a must (false).
You can very well improve your health without focusing on weight loss.
Intuitive eating is an evidence-based approach to eating that takes a different route. Results from intuitive eating include greater life satisfaction, greater enjoyment of food, improved self esteem, weight stabilization and lower rates of emotional eating.
Have you ever thought, “I just had lunch - I can’t be hungry again!”
Or maybe felt that you are just eating “too much”.
Beginning in childhood, we receive external messages about how much food is appropriate. What food is a"good" and what food is "bad" or "junk".
It comes from a world ruled by diet culture and body ideals.
I want you to know that you're not wrong for listening to your body.
Your body knows what it needs, intuitively, naturally. But the longer you've been pulled away from these signals, the more lost you can feel.
Sometimes you’ll be extra hungry and sometimes not so hungry. It has nothing to do with a clock or meal times. It has to with is listening to your body and honoring your hunger.
If intuitive eating is something that's peaked your interest, I have to be honest with you…
You won’t heal your relationship with food and body image overnight. Or even in a week.
I wish it could be done quickly, but remember... we've spent most of our lives inundated with diet culture. Growing up surrounded by it.
So, while you absolutely can make progress in a month, it’s going to take longer than a month to change thoughts and beliefs that you’ve held for your WHOLE life.
It’s a process that takes time and it is 💯worth it.
Stick with it, stay the course.
If you need help with this process, apply for coaching and we can have a free discovery call. I’m here.💗
